Our Techniques
If you’ve had chiropractic care before, you may be familiar with some of the many different chiropractic techniques. At Swan Districts Chiropractic we use the following chiropractic techniques and tailor each individuals care to meet their needs, goals and preferences. If you have a particular way you do/don’t like to be adjusted please discuss this with your chiropractor during your appointment.
- S.O.T – A low-force technique that includes the use of pelvic blocks/wedges and cranial therapy. Based upon the relationship between the Sacrum (base of the spine) and the Occiput (base of the skull).
- Diversified – The most commonly used chiropractic adjustment technique. A manual technique, characterized by a high velocity low amplitude thrust into a restricted spinal motion segment or other joint to improve joint motion
- Activator Method – Uses a small handheld spring-loaded instrument which delivers an impulse to the spine. Generally regarded as a softer chiropractic adjustment technique that is also useful for people with osteoporosis.
- Thompson – Uses leg length analysis and specialised tables with ‘drop pieces’ to deliver a specific adjustment.
- Webster Technique
A specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment, often used in pregnancy, aiming to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation and/or sacroiliac dysfunction and improve the neuro-biomechanical function of the pelvis.
- N.O.T
(Neural organisation technique)- A low-force evidence-based practice focusing on the neurological development of our intrinsic survival systems (Fight-flight, immunity, digestion and endocrine systems).
- Applied Kinesiology (AK) – Muscle testing is used to provide feedback on the function of the body.
